TIPS! How to break 80

Now, the first thing we need to Learn and improve the skill of, is having a very clear understanding of your yardages and distances carrying the ball through the air with each individual club.

So if you're at a driving range that has any ball tracking devices, this will be a big help in monitoring the carry and total distances of the ball for each individual club.

Note down the distance when you hit 3-5 shots with each club to see how the distance varies.
You can then use this information when out on the course for judging distances and aiding club selection.

The second thing we need to learn and improve is to understand how the ball launches through the air with each club.

For example, woods should have a lower trajectory than a PW and understanding this variation between the two is crucial to improve your game, having a huge effect on how far the ball flies which will be tailored, especially for yourself to achieve your full potential.

So if you’re using a PW through to any long irons, hybrids, and Fairway woods, We should be looking at achieving launch angles between 31° PW To 16° with longest iron, Hybrid or Fairway wood.

If we are Looking at launch angles with a DRIVER or say a 3 WOOD of a tee, ideally we should be looking at achieving launch angles between 10° up to 18°.

TIPS! IN HOW TO BREAK 90

The first thing we need to learn is the skill in how to hit the ball solid while practising, it is good to use some form of club face tape or spray (eg Athletes foot spray) by covering the club face with the face tape or spray from playing individual or a series of shots, this will highlight the strike location where the ball contacted the club face. This will become valuable information to partly help understand why the ball spins in a certain direction, but more importantly, improve the skills needed in how to hit the ball solid.

It is good practice while you’re training on the range or practice area to find a target to play too, and in between that target and yourself, find a reference point of an intermediate target point. By having an intermediate target point, you can use this as a reference point to understand the direction the ball is starting in relationship to the target. While you’re playing some shots? Observe where the ball starts in relationship to the intermediate target, this will provide you with super valuable information and the fundamental understanding of the angle of the Club face at the point of impact.

For example: for a right-handed golfer, if the ball starts left of the intermediate target, this will mean the club face is CLOSED at the point of impact, and if you noticed the extent of the ball starting left of the intermediate target this will give you more insight into how much or how little the club face is closed at impact. So knowing what we’ve just learned when the ball starts left, this would mean if the ball started right of the intermediate target, the club face will be OPEN at the point of impact and to the extent of the ball starting right of the intermediate target, this will give more inside into how much or how little the club face is open at impact. .

So these two factors will provide any golfer with a valuable understanding of club face control and strike location on the club face and really help in striking the ball solid.

 Once again I spent another winter in Orlando Florida at The David Leadbetter Headquarters in Champions Gate. Where I spent time assisting and observing may European PGA tour player Fredrick Jacobson and Gary Boyd, LPGA players such as Na Yeon Choi, Suzanne Pettersen, Sandra Gall, Hee Young Park, Song Hee Kim, Jennifer Song, Jung-Min Lee and many more. Champions Tour players such as Nic Price, Andy Bean, Mark McNulty. Its alway such an honour to have the chance to see these people every year, this is what gives one the drive to further educate ones self to becoming the best possible golf instructor. I just would like to thank all these players once again for sharing there time with me and wish you all a fantastic 2012 season.
